A Flurry of Celebrities Turn up For The Grand Reopening of Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Since September of 2017 when Hurricane Maria hit our shores, our home of Puerto Rico has been steadily rebuilding. This natural catastrophe prompted Dorado Beach Resort & Club to establish the ‘Dorado Beach Cares’ fund through the Dorado Beach Foundation, LLC, a nonprofit organization, which raised more than $370,000 to offer critical financial relief and support to our Dorado Beach Resort staff and their families, several of whom had completely lost their homes.
Similar to the rest of the island, Dorado Beach Resort & Club has been making extensive renovations and repairs to our 14,000-acre property, which included the legendary Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve. The reconstruction of our grounds created more than 400 jobs in the restoration phase and an additional 500 jobs through various ongoing projects. As part of the renovations, more than 300,000 new plants were planted during its reconstruction and each of the resort’s 114 beachfront guest rooms and suites now have a new, light color palette.
Ricardo Rosselló, Governor of Puerto Rico, recently visited Dorado Beach to witness first-hand what we had achieved in just over a year. Dorado Beach was the first resort property in Puerto Rico to receive guests after Hurricane Maria.
More recently, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve hosted a number of public figures to celebrate its grand reopening, including Uma Thurman, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, Neil Patrick Harris, Martha Stewart, Helena Christensen, Jane Krakowski, Benjamin Bratt and Talisa Soto, Jennifer Esposito, Al Roker, and Deborah Roberts, and Alex Lundqvist. The star-studded guests enjoyed a stunning performance by original “Hamilton” cast member and Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr, accompanied by the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra.
To truly highlight that Dorado Beach Resort & Club is more than ready to welcome guests again, we spoke with ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, who spent some time with his family here.
Talking of his recent trip, Neil Patrick Harris said,
“Our first trip ever to Puerto Rico was fantastic! I just assumed that Puerto Rico was still deeply damaged from the hurricane and not suitable for travel, but I was quite wrong. While there are absolutely areas that still need massive help and resources, tourism is still thriving and vital. Prime example: the spectacular Dorado Beach. Gorgeous resort, fantastic and gracious staff, lasting memories. If you’re looking to travel, consider Puerto Rico. We can’t wait to go back.”
With an exciting 2019 ahead, we are looking forward to creating new lifelong memories for our members and guests. To see for yourself, you can book your stay at Dorado Beach and discover that the name ‘Island of Enchantment’ holds true, now more than ever.
